Windscreen repair while waiting – quick stone chip repair

Windscreen repair while waiting

If a stone or a stud flies into the windscreen, a so-called bull’s-eye may appear on the glass. As a first aid, it is best to protect the stone as soon as possible from dirt and moisture. This can be done with transparent tape, for example, or with a free glass patch from InCar.

Windscreen chip damage should always be repaired as soon as possible after it occurs, to prevent the damage from spreading and possibly cracking the entire windscreen.

Stone chip in the windscreen – repair or replacement

Stone chip in the windscreen - repair or replacement

A chip in the windscreen can usually be repaired if it is no larger than a two-euro coin. In addition, the damage must be located in a clear area of the windscreen in order for the windscreen repair to be successful. The black area around the edges of the windscreen is called the silkscreen area, where the repair of a chip damage is not recommended. We will carefully inspect the damage to your car’s glass and together we will make a decision about repair or replacement.

The windscreen can also be replaced

If your car’s windscreen cannot be repaired, we offer a high quality and fast replacement service. You can be confident that your vehicle will be completely safe on the road even if you decide to replace your windscreen. Read more about windscreen replacement or book an appointment.

Windscreen repair with resin and drilling

Windscreen chip damage repair is a quick procedure to make a broken windscreen as durable and safe as a fully intact one. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that a repaired pebble chip will always leave a small trace, which at best is almost imperceptible – up to 90% improvement is entirely possible.

Windscreen repair is always done with resin, which is pressurised to push into the cracks in the centre of the bull’s-eye. If it is also suspected that the damage to the windscreen is likely to spread, a small hole can be drilled in the windscreen to prevent it from spreading. The resin is cured into the glass using UV light.

After curing, any resin left on the surface of the car windscreen is scraped off and the repair is complete. Our aim is to provide the best possible service using the latest techniques in the industry.

Our customers are provided with clear instructions for the further care of their windscreen. By following these guidelines, you can help to ensure the durability of your windscreen and prevent any future damage.
